CORVETTE C5

The Corvette C5, produced from 1997 to 2004, was a major step forward in performance, design, and reliability for the Corvette line.
It introduced an all-new platform with a stiffer chassis, rear-mounted transaxle for better weight distribution, and a more comfortable interior.

FACT1. The C5 debuted the all-new LS1 V8 engine, producing 345 horsepower.
It was lighter, more efficient, and became the foundation for a
whole family of powerful GM engines used for years.

FACT2. Unlike previous Corvettes, the C5 moved the transmission to
the rear, connected by a torque tube. This gave the car near-perfect
weight balance and improved handling.

FACT3. Despite its performance, the C5 was surprisingly efficient.
Thanks to its aerodynamic shape and efficient engine,
it could get up to 28 MPG on the highway, impressive
for a 300+ horsepower sports car.
