A corgi is a small, short-legged herding dog with a long body, big upright ears, and a fox-like face. Originally bred in Wales to herd cattle, corgis are surprisingly strong, fast, and athletic despite their compact size. There are two main types: the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is slightly smaller and often has a very short tail, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which has a long tail and is the older of the two breeds. Corgis are intelligent, loyal, affectionate dogs with lots of energy, and they are known for being alert and easy to train, making them both good companions and capable watchdogs.
