What's a Jig?

A Jig is a type of lure with a usually heavy hook which also looks like a small fish. You can use softplastics with smaller jigs such as crab softplastics or worm softplastics aswell to attract fish in shallow waters or use a metal jig which is more suited for deeper waters. You would use a jig when you are in deep waters like at reefs or drop-offs, Jigs are especially good on boats.

How do i use a Jig?

to use a jig, you woult cast it into deep waters and let it sink for awhile. Then, as you retrieve it you want to jerk your rod up while you wind to stand out as a injured fish. The motion triggers predatory fish to strike. Try jigging fast as you retrieve it because it might entice more fish to strike.

What Jig do i use?

The type of jig you use depends on the water conditions and the fish you are targeting. For shallow waters, a lighter jig with a softplastic trailer works well. For deeper waters, a heavier metal jig with reflective properties is more effective. Jigs should be used on boats where you can easily get to deep waters or on rocks at drop-offs to capitalize on the sinking aspect of jigs.
